What's the difference between a standard haircut and a DevaCurl haircut?
Standard haircuts are cut while hair is wet while DevaCurl / curly cuts are cut dry. This is because the DevaCurl technique is to cut curls "where they live" so texture and shrinkage are immediately accounted for resulting in a tailored, customized shape that is just right for your unique curl pattern.
How often should I wash my textured hair?
Wash your curls 1-3 times a week to avoid stripping natural oils. On the days between washes, feel free to use conditioner and thoroughly rinse.
What is a standard styling routine for curly/wavy hair?
After cleansing and conditioning, the routine typically involves applying leave-in conditioner, curl cream, and gel to soaking wet hair, removing excess water with a microfiber towel, then drying and/or diffusing. The specifics depend on your hair type and preferences. When you sit in my chair, I will work with you to come up with a routine that fits your hair goals and lifestyle.

How can I avoid frizz?
After washing, remove excess water using a microfiber towel or cotton t-shirt. A standard cotton towel is too rough and causes high friction that can weaken strands and cause breakage. It's also recommended to sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase for the same reasons.

This 45-min express reshaping service is designed to maintain your curly cut in between DevaCut appointments. It’s perfect for those not needing a full haircut, but general reshaping such as lifting layers that are looking a little weighed down or becoming “triangular” in shape. After your cut, finishing products will be used to rehydrate your curls, rather than washing and styling at the sink. DevaCut Refresh is for existing clients wishing to maintain their hair in between DevaCuts and is recommended for those who have had a DevaCut in the past 1-3 months.
